This paper was commissioned to contribute ideas to JRF's Housing Market Taskforce. It aims to facilitate discussion by highlighting public attitudes to a range of key housing issues that are currently being debated.

The paper examines:

  • public attitudes towards housing tenure;
  • public attitudes towards neighbourhood and property types;
  • perceptions of housing taxation; and
  • the implications of the evidence for reforming the housing system to support vulnerable households.
