Sofiya Gatens

Sofiya is Head of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at JRF. She is leading the design to become a more equitable organisation, both in terms of our organisational culture and our external outputs. She supports people across the organisation to fulfil our commitment to equity, working closely with the CEO and Executive team to develop ambitious leadership in this area. She engages with peers across the sector to share best practice and build solidarity networks. 

Sofiya's commitment to our mission and this area of work is driven by her lived experience growing up in poverty in a dual-heritage, single-parent family. She previously worked at Mind, steering their work to improve mental health outcomes for those experiencing poverty and those from negatively racialised backgrounds.
