Analysis of trends in housing and neighbourhoods and how these interact across different parts of the UK.

The Housing and Neighbourhood Monitor (HNM) brings together key spatial statistics to provide a longitudinal and cross-country overview of contemporary changes to the UK's housing and neighbourhoods and an assessment of progress against key Government policy objectives. Following political devolution in 1999, the relevant policy frameworks now vary across the different jurisdictions of the UK. The HNM:

  • focuses on how housing issues interact with wider neighbourhood characteristics;
  • identifies major policy outcomes of housing and neighbourhood change by performing analysis of cross-cutting themes and highlighting key policy implications;
  • covers both the macro spatial level of the UK and the micro level of neighbourhood/local authority districts.
