Programme summary
Our remit is income poverty in the United Kingdom and the costs, expenditure, assets and social exclusion associated with inequality in income, wealth and opportunity.
We know that poverty is a problem on many levels and affects different people at different times.
We are concerned with:
- preventing people from falling into poverty
- sustainable routes out of poverty
- the causes and consequences of poverty
- groups and individuals that experience poverty
- solutions.
We have eight current R&D programmes:
- What will it take to end child poverty in the UK?
- Income adequacy
- Education and poverty
- Monitoring poverty and social exclusion
- Ethnicity and poverty
- Poverty, debt and financial inclusion
- Resources in later life
- Welfare and work
