Information collected

The JRF/JRHT collects the following information regarding visitors to our website: IP address, pages accessed, date, time and further information volunteered by you. The JRF/JRHT will analyse website data to improve regularly the value of the materials available online.

Information collected for online ordering

The information you are required to input in order to process the transaction for online ordering is necessary for the transaction to succeed. We retain the minimum amount of data necessary to complete the transaction in the bookshop. This data is retained for the necessary amount of time to ensure that we can deal with any subsequent queries. The data you supply may therefore be held in four locations, namely by Netbanx (our transaction clearing house), YPS (our distributor), JRF and the issuing bank. For security reasons, Netbanx does not provide JRF or YPS with your card data, for example your credit card number.

You are assured that any personal data held on servers by Netbanx, YPS or JRF is retained for the minimum period of time necessary (whilst you remain a customer) and that it is held securely and will not be transmitted to any third party.

Information collected for mailing lists

The JRF/JRHT maintains several email lists to keep subscribers (registered users, the press, professional institutions and other interested parties) informed about new publications.

Users join our mailing lists voluntarily via email and by signing up through a form on our website. We retain only your email address in order to notify you of new publications and we do not sell, rent, loan, trade or lease email addresses to any third party.

Use of cookies

A cookie is a small data file that websites can write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie can contain information, such as a unique user identifier, that the site uses to track your visit. The JRF / JRHT website uses cookies to uniquely identify all users visiting the site. This enables the bookshop to function and allows us to analyse the profiles of our visitors.

Many people worry that cookies threaten individuals' privacy and might affect their own computers' functioning. While they can be used in all kinds of ways by server-based applications, they pose no risk to you as a user. Cookies used by the JRF cannot be used to obtain information about your system or to add you to any mailing lists. They are used to make browsing more efficient. If you have disabled cookies on your computer, you will be unable to order publications from the bookshop, and access to other areas of the site may be restricted.

Access to your personal information

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information the JRF/JRHT holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. (We charge a fee for information requests.) Please address requests to the Data Protection Officer (see above).
